The Schindler EPFL lab team is lead by Dr Malcolm Mielle and includes many talented students and alumni.
Malcolm Mielle obtained his Ph.D. at the center of Applied Autonomous Sensor System research group, at Örebro University (Sweden).
His work was part of the EU project smokebot which focused on the application needs for robots that operate in domains with restricted visibility in particular civil robots supporting fire brigades in search and rescue missions.
As part of SmokeBot, he developed methods to integrate prior information in a robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM).
